THE PACUARE RIVER ATTRACTS THOUSANDS OF TOURISTS |
The Pacuare River embraces one of the most precious treasures in Costa Rica, discovered every day by more and more tourists when they go white water rafting in its waters. This river is among the ten most beautiful rivers in the world. It is an attraction for thousands of tourists that every year visit its waters. Its current is one of its main attractions. In some places it is quite calm and rafting is classified as class 2 and in other points it reaches class 4. This river is born in the mountains, north of the Chirripó National Park and its basin has an area of 885 km2 in direction to the Atlantic, where it flows into approximately 41 km north of the Limón Port. Once the tourists arrive at the river the main instructions are given to them.
Richard Taylor, a tourist that recently visited our country with his wife from San Diego, California, United States commented ‘’we come here to see the trees and specially the birds, we think that the forest is incredible, there is lots of life, everything is so green. Its basin includes wildlife areas as the pre-montane rain forest, very humid pre-montane forest and tropical-humid forest. The vegetation of the area is highly diverse as well as its fauna (species that in the country are considered rare or endangered, such as the jaguar, mountain lion, ocelot, tapir and more than one hundred different species of birds). Pacuare is the jewel of rafting in Costa Rica, one of the main tourist attractions of the country. Its clean waters and exciting rafting along with the surrounding flora and fauna make of this river a place you will never forget. |
